The Conclusion of The Truth About Monsters

By Peter Eccleston

Dear Reader,

If you are reading this, then you have come to the end of my discussion about the truth about monsters. You have learned to hear the madness in the howl of the werewolf, see through the deceptions of the vampire's charming smile, and hear the call of the inevitable in the otherworldly moan of the zombie. While these truths remain theories, I hope that you have become inspired by them and have taken some amount of joy in reading them. However, now that we near the end of our journey together, you are no doubt wondering: why does it matter? They matter, because, in our own ways, we need our little monsters as horrible as they may be. For they are our own dark reflections, each one coming to represent something all of us fear deeply. All of these monsters were once human. All of these monsters turn humans into what they fear most and that is what our fears can do to us. They can transform us into monsters more hideous than the most grotesque of werewolves, more cruel than the most sadistic of vampires, and more uncaring than the slowest zombie. If we are to improve ourselves at a whole, we must become better than the worst parts of us. Must hold these fears to the light of day and examine them to truly escape them. In offering these theories, I hope to have us think on them and become better people for it. So as we finish our journey together, think about what you have read, seen, and heard and pray we don't become worser for it.

Sincerely,

Peter Eccleston
